Anyone remember that Cup thingy that was going on? Come on surely you do...you know, the one with the big boats, brilliant crews, plenty of intrigue and a bunch of circus clowns running the big top...
I think it was named after a boat that sailed around the Isle of Wight, but I'm not entirely sure and it was being held down in Spain somewhere. Supposedly it was F1 on the water with all sorts of brilliant sportsmen but I think the organisers just put the whole event on ice and went on holiday for 17 days before they could be bothered to race for the trophy.
All the sailors that were on the boats at the beginning are now in Alicante sailing TP52's and the journos and media have finally realised that they've been sold a pup and fled like rats on a sinking ship. All that's left is a couple of cranes, loads of storage space for big boats and a pathetic attempt to drum up 'intrigue' in the media.
This Cup is dying a long, slow and painful death...don't believe the hype and horse coming out of the official channels, this really is as bad as it gets and it begs the question...Was Pope Benedict really administering the last rights whilst allegedly watching the racing in Vatican City?
